Using a grant from the Yorkshire Building Society, Headway Bradford bought a selection of books relating to brain injury and a full set of Headway booklets. These books have been donated to the public library to make them easily accessible and more widely available. Anyone who has a library card can borrow them if they wish to do so. If you do not have a library card and would like one, please just ask at any library. The books are housed at City Library in Centenary Square, Bradford, but can be transferred to other libraries in the area by request – you would just need to tell your library the title of the book (see list and summaries below).
Before handing the books over to the library, a label was placed on the inside front cover of each one saying that it had been donated by Headway Bradford and giving our contact details for anyone who may wish to get in touch with us. This provides another avenue through which we can try to support people whose lives have been affected by brain injury.
The first photo shows three members of staff from the Yorkshire Building Society (back row, standing) and committee members (seated) with the books on display. The second photo is of Pam Drake (Chair), Steve Butlin (Vice Chair), Pete Walker (Bradford Libraries Development Officer) and David Drake (Headway Bradford member) outside the library Servicing Department delivering the three boxes of books and booklets.
